Dunder Mifflin Sabre
What is Dunder Mifflin Sabre?
Dunder Mifflin Sabre (DMS, for short) is The Office's social networking game/affinity program where members (hereafter known as "employees") are awarded points (hereafter known as "SchruteBucks") for participation and interaction. Members can choose to redeem these points for a variety of rewards and/or experiences.
Signing Up
Is Dunder Mifflin Sabre free?
Yes! All you have to do is sign up or log into DMS to get started! NOTE: DMS is powered by myNBC and creating an account with DMS is the same as creating one in myNBC; therefore any existing myNBC users do not have to sign up for a new account to join.
Why am I asked to enter my Facebook/Twitter/MySpace information during registration?
This is an optional part of the DMS experience where you can earn SchruteBucks for posting various things on these other social networks. You can pick which profiles you'd like to link, or none at all. You are not required to link your DMS profile to any other social networking profiles account to participate, but doing so ensures that you will receive points for events and challenges that occur outside of DMS or NBC.com.
SchruteBucks
How do I earn SchruteBucks?
There are two different ways to earn SchruteBucks: events and tasks. Events are the activities you do on the site and on the social networks you've linked to every day, such as leaving comments, watching videos, playing games, posting links or updating your status. Tasks require you to perform specific events within a specific amount of time and are typically worth more SchruteBucks.
Why didn't I get SchruteBucks after completing a task?
It can take up to two hours for newly earned SchruteBucks to be posted. If you feel there is an issue with your current SchruteBucks total, click here for technical support.
Can I earn SchruteBucks by posting in the DMS Forum?
Yes! You can earn 10 SchruteBucks for every new topic you create and 5 SchruteBucks every time you post a reply.
Do my SchruteBucks expire?
SchruteBucks have 3 different categories: Current, Available, and Lifetime.
- Current points are the points you've earned in the current season, which will be reset to 0 with every new TV season*.
- Available points are the number of current points available to redeem for rewards - in other words, your point balance.
- Lifetime points are the cumulative points you've earned from season to season.
*TV seasons typically change in May and September. The first point reset will occur in May 2011. The next one will occur after that in September 2011.
Is there a limit to the number of SchruteBucks I can earn?
Yes, we cap the number of times you can earn SchruteBucks when you perform specific actions to earn points at 25 per action per week. For example, each week you will only earn points for the first 25 comments that you leave on the site. While you will still be able to leave comments, only the first 25 will accrue points. This will reset to 0 at the start of each week.
Rewards
What can I do with the SchruteBucks that I've earned?
You can use your SchruteBucks to determine your rank on the Employee Leaderboard and you can redeem SchruteBucks for a variety of different rewards.
Where do my rewards go after I check out?
Once you've redeemed your SchruteBucks for rewards, a badge will appear in the Rewards module on your Profile. If more information is required, you will receive a message with instructions on how to complete your transaction.
Can I use my SchruteBucks on Fan It to buy other rewards?
Yes. All SchruteBucks earned in DMS can be spent on Fan It as well. Fan It points earned outside of DMS, however, cannot be used to purchase DMS rewards or earn DMS prizes.
Profiles
What's on my Profile?
Your Employee Profile shows who you are, what rank of employee you are, what branch you're affiliated with, when you last logged in, your SchruteBucks total, how many SchruteBucks you've earned/spent, the social networks you're connected to, and your Rewards.
What's the difference between Public and Private view?
The only difference between Public and Private view is that in Public view the social network buttons will let other employees connect to you outside of DMS (so, for example, if you've connected your Facebook profile to DMS, another employee may choose to click on the Facebook icon on your Profile to friend you on Facebook). In Private view the social network buttons will allow you to connect to and manage your own outside accounts.)
I came over from Dunder Mifflin Infinity and myNBC. Where are my Inbox, Contacts, Photos and Video modules?
Those modules still exist, but they are all found on myNBC. On your Profile page, the myNBC module is found on the lower left-hand side. Click any of those links to be taken to your myNBC profile, where you can add friends, upload photos and video, create a blog, or change your account settings.
Branches
What are branches for?
Branches are just another way you can connect with other Office fans on Dunder Mifflin Sabre. Each is its own community, with its own identity, branch forum and activities organized by its employees.
How many branches are there?
There are 50 branches open in Dunder Mifflin Sabre. They are:

How do I join a branch?
In Dunder Mifflin Sabre there is no formal process for joining (also called "supporting") a branch - it's very easy:
- Decide which branch you want to join. There are 50 branches available.
- From the homepage Tasks module or the Task page, go to the task you want to complete.
- Choose the branch you want to support from the "Support This Branch" dropdown menu.
- Click GO and complete the task. All SchruteBucks earned from that task will not only be awarded to you, but will also reflect in your chosen branch's SchruteBuck total. Your avatar and username will also be displayed on the branch page under the "Employees as of [Latest Task]" module.
- To chat with other members of your chosen branch, find their Branch Forum and start posting!
How do I transfer to another branch or quit a branch?
There is no actual transferring or quitting of a branch. You just simply stop supporting the branch when completing tasks, either by choosing to support a different branch, or none at all.
Do I have to support a branch to participate and/or win in Dunder Mifflin Sabre?
No. Branch membership is optional. All employees can be on the Employee Leadboard and are eligible for Top Employee rewards and prizes. If you are interested in social networking, and meeting other Office fans, we encourage you to affiliate yourself with a branch. NOTE: There may be some tasks that will award bonus SchruteBucks to employees whose branch earned the most total SchruteBucks.
Can I belong to more than one branch?
You may only belong (or "support") one branch per task. You have the option of supporting a different branch for a different task. Some employees may choose to stick with one branch over the course of a season; others may want to try supporting several different branches over multiple tasks.
Is there a limit on how many employees can support a branch?
There is no maximum amount of employees.
Why isn't my city on the branch list? Can I open a new branch?
We at Corporate have taken great care in choosing where we want to expand our business. As some of you have already noted, the DMS branches reflect the same small-city ideals that our physical branches - like Scranton or Utica - do. 30 of the DMS branches are legacy branches from our previous incarnation, Dunder Mifflin Infinity, while 20 have recently opened following the Sabre buyout. There will be no additional branches opened at this time.
Do Dunder Mifflin Sabre branches have Regional Managers?
All DMS employees start as Temps and work their way up the Corporate ladder. Regional Managers will be assigned at Corporate's discretion and/or following the wishes of a majority of a branch's employees. Regional Managers are purely symbolic and represent employees who wish to take charge of the social aspect of their branch, whether it be through motivational efforts, organizing activities outside of DMS, or moderating their branch forum.
Tasks
What are tasks?
Tasks are weekly assignments that employees are asked to complete. They may include, but are not limited to: playing games (both skill and arcade-based), watching and commenting on video clips, leaving comments on videos, photos or blogs, creative assignments (writing, uploading designs/photos/video or otherwise), participatory events, etc.
Who assigns the tasks?
Corporate oversees all DMS activity and disseminates all tasks. Tasks will be published on the DMS homepage, Tasks page, Latest News feed as well as in the Tasks area of the Forum.
Do the tasks have deadlines?
Most tasks require you to complete specific events within a specific amount of time. Some deadlines may be as short as a week, while others may last for a month or more.
Are the tasks going to take up a lot of my time?
DMS tasks have been designed to be fun and not time-consuming. Most should be able to be completed in a matter of minutes or in one sitting. Some more complicated (or multi-part) tasks may take longer, but will accordingly have longer deadlines.
I still have a lot of questions about tasks.
Don't worry. Every task will be explained fully when it's assigned, including the deadline, tips and tricks, the SchruteBucks that will be awarded and any other special prizing available for that task.
Troubleshooting
What should I do if I'm having technical difficulties or need customer support?
First you should check out the technical support forum category to see if your problem has already been reported and/or resolved. If not, leave a message in the forum detailing your issues and DMS Human Resources or a moderator will be in touch to help out. You also have the option of filling out our Feedback form should you wish.
